Exhibition Project by Clara Schlumberger

Hello my name is Clara Schlumberger and I have been working on my
Exhibition for almost 9 weeks. I have been studying about Tuberculosis
which is a communicable disease.

TB can be eradicated with easy steps we can follow ...

Well what is TB ? Tuberculosis is a bacteria that you get by not getting vaccinated,
not washing your hands or cleaning regularly used surfaces,
and when your not wearing a mask when your close to sick people.
The bacterium travels through your body to your lungs and sometimes to other
week places to your body when you don’t have a healthy and
strong immune system.

The action that I took to raise awareness is; an infographic, and this
Dongdaewon blog and I might be spending a couple hours at Eugene Bell.
Education is a big part of TB because if you don’t know what it is
and how you get it or how to take your medicine then you probably will get it or if
you already have it you will get MDR-TB. (MDR is when the vaccine does't work and you
immune to it and normal TB medicine). Did you know that almost 4,000,000 people
already died because of communicable diseases ?

Another Fact is that in the Philippines a High School got a 20 minute lesson about
TB and the baseline knowledge of TB was  65.22%  and went up to 86.83%.

And that's a wrap everyone ...

Congratulations Everyone,
Approximately 50 million was raised this year for Dongdaewon. It definitely was a team that pulled it together, so I would like to thank you all for all your hard work this year. Your creativity, willingness to serve and desire to go the extra mile was amazing.
The money will go towards helping our nine patients continue or finish their treatment and we might even be able to pick up a new patient.
Your money definitely helps save lives.
Thanks again
Jo Bigwood

Welcome to Dongdaewon 2019!

Welcome to Dongdaewon 2019!

It's our 20th year partnering with Eugene Bell this year and it has started with a bang.  Our fundraising period will run from Feb 8th - Mar 22nd.
Friday 8th, and Saturday 9th February launched Dongdaewon in Robb Hall, with our staff panto 'Captain Hook's Revenge' by Richard Coleman. Faculty braved the cold to come to rehearsals from November. It was in full swing after the Christmas vacation. I hear the rehearsals were as much fun and filled with hilarity as the actual performances. The Admin team joined the cast, showcasing their talents as BTS (a famous Korean Kpop band, along with their stylist).

Tristan, Justyna and Adam (keeping it in family)!
It does take a village to create a panto here at SFS and in true Edie Moon style, she directed the cast, producing an outstanding, fun filled, 2 1/2 hrs of laughter, entertainment and community building. Thank you to everyone who contributed by attending, helping out front stage, backstage and on stage. You guys were amazing. The exact amount raised is yet to be confirmed, but is looking to be over 10 million won. Good efforts everyone.

Front of t.shirt                              Back of t.shirt
Dongdaewon T.shirts/Sweatshirts were also launched at this year's panto. We had a lot of entries, from all sections of our school. Congratulations to Skylar Won (Grade 8) and Alin Sung (Grade 9).
Check out the winning designs.
T.shirts and Sweatshirts will be available in each section of the school before and after school.
T.shirts - 16,000 won
Sweatshirts - 35,000 won.
This is a fantastic fundraiser.
It is with sadness that Shamograms will not be a part of this year's fundraising drive. It has been a big part of our Dongdaewon fundraising for the past 20 years, thanks to Kate Gray and her team of mischievous leprechauns.  The school is trying to take a healthier stance and felt that giving a lot of chocolate bars to each other wasn't supporting that.  So watch this space ... as each section creates new initiatives this year.

Events Coming Up:

Silent Art Auction

There will be all sorts of exciting artwork for you to bid on, including items from many of talented faculty.

Gift Cards
As part of our 20th Year Celebration, we will be producing packs of gift cards to be sold, with artwork from students and alumni. Watch out for these ...
