Take a look at all the amazing entries we had this year, check out the poster in                                       the Atrium in the ES.

Hearts To Serve; 27th February we had our annual service assembly. Thank you to Jean Kim for coordinating this and to everyone who shared about service here at SFS. It was particularly exciting to celebrate the 20 years we have partnered with Eugene Bell. Check out the Board statement issued 20 years ago and Sarah Carpenter's 20 year tribute video.

The Board statement issued 20 years ago. Interesting read, especially their vision for SFS students all those years ago. Take a look.

Welcome to Dongdaewon 2019!

Welcome to Dongdaewon 2019!

It's our 20th year partnering with Eugene Bell this year and it has started with a bang.  Our fundraising period will run from Feb 8th - Mar 22nd.
Friday 8th, and Saturday 9th February launched Dongdaewon in Robb Hall, with our staff panto 'Captain Hook's Revenge' by Richard Coleman. Faculty braved the cold to come to rehearsals from November. It was in full swing after the Christmas vacation. I hear the rehearsals were as much fun and filled with hilarity as the actual performances. The Admin team joined the cast, showcasing their talents as BTS (a famous Korean Kpop band, along with their stylist).

Tristan, Justyna and Adam (keeping it in family)!
It does take a village to create a panto here at SFS and in true Edie Moon style, she directed the cast, producing an outstanding, fun filled, 2 1/2 hrs of laughter, entertainment and community building. Thank you to everyone who contributed by attending, helping out front stage, backstage and on stage. You guys were amazing. The exact amount raised is yet to be confirmed, but is looking to be over 10 million won. Good efforts everyone.

Front of t.shirt                              Back of t.shirt
Dongdaewon T.shirts/Sweatshirts were also launched at this year's panto. We had a lot of entries, from all sections of our school. Congratulations to Skylar Won (Grade 8) and Alin Sung (Grade 9).
Check out the winning designs.
T.shirts and Sweatshirts will be available in each section of the school before and after school.
T.shirts - 16,000 won
Sweatshirts - 35,000 won.
This is a fantastic fundraiser.
It is with sadness that Shamograms will not be a part of this year's fundraising drive. It has been a big part of our Dongdaewon fundraising for the past 20 years, thanks to Kate Gray and her team of mischievous leprechauns.  The school is trying to take a healthier stance and felt that giving a lot of chocolate bars to each other wasn't supporting that.  So watch this space ... as each section creates new initiatives this year.

Dongdaewon 20 18 - 2019

2018 closed ... but 2019 about to begin.

We had a fabulous year last year, despite a lot of our committee members departing SFS. It was rallying the troops and getting down to it. A big thank you to past members Patti Swanson, Sarah Carpenter, Mark Worden (check out the video), Laura Worden, Dr Gray and Kate Gray, Kim Lee, Jo Thies and many more of you that have spent time raising money for Dongdaewon. We appreciate all you have done to help save lives.

All said and done we raised 50 million won (nearly $50, 000 US).  Great job everyone. Through fairs, auctions, selling of t.shirts and shamograms, and other events, we were able to sponsor 9 patients for 18 months of treatment.

At the beginning of our school year,  Sept 2018, Mr Colm Flanagan presented the check to the Eugene Bell Foundation, at our Welcome Back to School afternoon. Check out the picture below.

Meredith, Joel and Adam Walker (students featured in the photo), presented their holiday fundraising money. They charged family members to participate in sporting activities. That's what we call a healthy fundraiser!

So keep watching this space for Dongdaewon 2019 ... our 20th Year Celebration, partnering with Eugene Bell.  We have a lot coming up (drum roll please) ... firstly the Pantomime is back. This year's panto is 'Captain Hook's Revenge' written by Richard Coleman. Diary 8/9th Feb, if you are in Seoul. Along with Fairs, Cooking Schools and other exciting fundraisers, Dongdaewon 2019 is going to be bigger than ever. Don't forget to keep in touch.

Week 2, Dongdaewon Fundraiser 2018

Week 2 ...

We kicked off the week selling and ordering a tremendous amount of hoodies and sweatshirts in most sections of the school.  You can still place an order for hoodies (35,000) and pick up a t.shirt (16,000). Don't miss out.

Dongdaewon Swim Meet

Thank you to the High School Students, Lydia, John, Willy and Matthew and Mr. Cary and all the crew for your work yesterday. It was very well organized and all approximately 200 competitors, from SFS, YISS, Chadwick, Dulich and other local schools looked like they knew exactly where to be and at what time. Not to mention all the snacks that were sold and the cool swimming bags each competitor left with. Good job team.

Coming up this week ...

Don't forget to collect your shamogram forms from your class teachers.

Hearts to Serve ... all about Service at SFS, featuring our Dongdaewon patients on video. Watch this space for the video link coming soon.

Silent Auction:
Please help support Dongdaewon by contributing auction items. Examples of past donations include: framed pictures, photographs, gourmet brunch for 6, pancake breakfast for a class, jewellery, quilts, and antique furniture.  The bidding process will take place over the course of one week starting on March 7th. Later in March, the Bid Book will be closed, and shortly thereafter the items will be distributed to the highest bidders. All proceeds will go directly to the charity.

Here's how you can help:

1. Consider donating an item to the Silent Auction by the end of February

2. Mark your calendar and plan to stop by the Coffee Shop from March 7th and check out the items up for auction and place a bid.

Thank you in advance for your support of this important cause. Together we can make a difference.
